Weather Data on this area of our website is produced using a Davis Vantage Pro II Plus FARS Weather Station. Purchased from the UK Weathershop.

The Weather Station consists of an ISS (Integrated sensor suite), and a remote anemometer which is mounted at a height of 10 mtrs above ground level.
The weather station is located at an elevation of 535 feet above sea level in a town called West Kingsdown, Kent, England.

The ISS houses the sensors required to gather Temperature, Humidity, UV Index, Solar Energy, and Rain data. This is mounted in a location clear of obstructions with a clear view of the Sky to enable reliable UV and Solar radiation detection. The wind speed and direction information is derived from the Anemometer and Wind vane combined into one unit, mounted separately from the ISS.

Most of the Weather Data shown on this site is updated every 60 seconds, If different from this it will be clearly stated. Weather data on our Weather Cam is Refreshed every 10 seconds.

Historic Weather Data can also be viewed from the relevant pages. We will aim to keep historic data from the date of installation which was 1st September 2006.

Weather in general can be very interesting, but some find it quite a boring subject. I myself am new to this and welcome comments from anyone who has greater experience than me. You never stop learning as they say.

Hope you find our weather pages useful and hope you return regularly.

In addition to the basic Information such as Temperature Humidity and Barometric pressure, you will find additional data displayed which has been calculated from the basic instruments, such as Wind Chill and Cloud base.

All the Data collected by the Weather station is transmitted to a control interface which inputs the data to a Computer. The software then converts this data and displays it in a form which we can see, images and text.

This data is then uploaded to this website at regular intervals using FTP. ( File Transfer Protocol)
